Scheduling for SAP NetWeaver
The employed interface XBP is certified by SAP. The APX system is planning, scheduling and controlling the job execution within all SAP systems like SAP NetWeaver, SAP BW, SAP CRM and SAP IS-U. It´s a user choice to import automatically all job definitions from the SAP system into the APX database or to start a SAP job as an external job. A special function is able to prepare the values of selection parameters and stores this information into the TVARVC table of SAP. This functionality reduces about 20% to 25% of variants in the SAP NetWeaver reports.

Normally internal functions for background processing of the systems SAP NetWeaver and SAP BW are available, but this are very limeted functions specially when there is a need for controlling of all company wide processing. That is the reason why SAP realized a standard interface for professional scheduler systems. |
Advantages of using APX/PCC for SAP NetWeaver:
- SAP offers only basic functions for background scheduling.
- Only one predecessor can be defined.
- No application calendars are supported.
- No possibility to define cross client dependencies.
- No server synchronisation for cross platform scheduling.
- No restart on step-level.
- The check of parameters (variants etc.) only just before executing.
- No company wide check of batch schedules.
- No check for concurrent resources (e.g. data bases).
- Successor can not check the completion of the executed batch-input-files.
